Thank you for sharing your #AISD Green School Ideas!
To help jump start the development of Austin ISD’s first sustainability plan, we asked you:
What does a sustainable school look, feel, and act like?
We were blown away with the nearly 350 tweets, photos, videos, stories, and artwork that you shared to communicate your vision for a sustainable school.
Two top prizes were awarded among the nearly 350 submissions received:
- Best Individual Submission: Joseph “JD” Mitchell, a Science Specialist at Guerrero Thompson Elementary School, earned a $100 gift certificate to Odd Duck restaurant for the most inspiring submission about nurturing inquisitive minds and building a sustainable community through gardening at school.
Read Mr. Mitchell’s winning story. - Best Campus Participation: Eastside Memorial High School students, staff, and community members contributed 124 photos, tweets, logos, and emails, many inspired by the school’s Keep Eastside Beautiful program. Eastside Memorial won $500 for a campus environmental improvement project, generously donated by EcoRise Youth Innovations.
