Family Engagement Services by Parent Support Specialists
This brief report summarizes some of the family engagement services provided by AISD parent support specialists to families during the 2019-2020 school year. The supplemental report summarizes services provided during the 2020 calendar year.
Secondary Dual Language Academic Performance Summary Report, 2019–2020
This report summarizes the academic performance of students in the AISD secondary dual language program during 2019–2020. Topics include program and student characteristics, performance on the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS), enrollment in advanced placement (AP) courses and performance on AP exams. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and school closures, academic course performance, performance on the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) tests and performance on the end-of-course (EOC) tests are not included.
AISD Virtual Learning Summer Programs 2020
This report highlights successes and lessons learned from AISD 2020 virtual learning summer school programs. More than 13,000 AISD students in prekindergarten through grade 12 participated in these programs, which offered academic enrichment or acceleration, course credit recovery, and grade level transition. Recommendations are made for future virtual learning opportunities.
Seed Model Campus Cohort Program Evaluation: Early signs of campus improvement in social and emotional learning
This report looks at the impact of the Seed Model Campus Cohort Program in its first 3 years of implementation. Evidence put forth in the report suggests that by deliberately focusing on inclusive program design and peer-to-peer sharing with a focus on growth, the program already positively contributes to SEL implementation, particularly through increased coordination of SEL leadership efforts and through increased adult SEL skills.
Novice Teacher Mentoring Program: End-of-Year Mentee Survey Results
This report explores novice teachers' experience in the Novice Teacher Mentoring Program component of the Teacher Induction Program in the 2019–2020 academic year. Results indicated that most novice teachers had a positive experience with their mentoring experience and received the support they needed regarding entering the teaching profession.
Family Pulse Survey Results Summary: July 2020
The second AISD Family Pulse survey was available to all families between July 23rd and August 13th. Families responded on behalf of over 32,000 students (N= 32,384) for about a 40% response rate for the survey. Families were asked the question “After the 100% at-home distance teaching and learning at the beginning of the 20-21 school year, which instructional model do you plan to select for your student?” and were asked to select from on-campus teaching and learning, at-home distance teaching and learning, or that they did not plan for their child to attend school in AISD in 20-21.
CARES Front Office Staff Focus Group: Summary of Results 2019-2020
The CARES (customer-focused, action-oriented, responsive, empathetic, and service-driven) initiative was launched in AISD in 2018-2019 to bring about a culture of respect and inclusiveness throughout the district. The initiative puts an emphasis on positive customer experiences for families, students and staff members. In the spring of 2020, the Department of Research and Evaluation conducted focus groups with front office staff members from a variety of schools in AISD to discover the perceptions and responses to this initiative and any barriers to full implementation.
Student Teaching Program: Student Teacher and Cooperating Teacher Survey Results
This report describes the results from the Student Teacher Survey and the Cooperating Teacher Survey. Findings indicated most student teachers had a positive experience in the Student Teaching Program. Additionally, most cooperating teachers would recommend their student teacher for employment suggesting the Student Teaching Program can serve as an effective teacher recruitment pipeline for AISD.
Family Pulse Survey Results Summary: June 2020
The AISD Family Pulse survey was launched to all families on June 24th and closed on July 13th. Families were asked to respond to the survey once for each child they had enrolled in AISD in the 2019- 2020 school year, excluding exiting seniors. Families responded on behalf of just over 26,000 students (N= 26,255) out of a possible 75,592 students for about a 35% response rate for the survey. Families were asked questions about their plans and preferences for sending each of their children physically back to school in 2020-2021.
Perceptions of Staff's Social and Emotional Learning in AISD
This report explores teachers' and administrators' perceptions of social and emotional learning (SEL) in AISD. Based on analysis of responses to the 2019 Employee Coordinated Survey and the 2018-2019 Teaching, Empowering, Leading, and Learning (TELL) Survey, this report indicates significant positive correlations between staff's SEL knowledge and competencies and numerous aspects of school climate and culture.
