Helping Students Achieve Their Potential

Austin ISD has three single-gender schools: the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, Bertha Sadler Means Young Women’s Leadership Academy and Gus Garcia Young Men’s Leadership Academy.

Research has identified a range of potential benefits to implementing single-gender schools. Those benefits include increased academic achievement, particularly among at-risk students, greater staff sensitivity and awareness of gender learning and maturation, and an increase in equity and access to student opportunities.
