What is the purpose of the SEFAC?
This committee will focus on 3 primary goals:
- Clear & Inclusive Vision with Shared Ownership
- Strong Tier 1 Instruction within a Multi-tiered System of Support.
- Evaluation & Compliance
General Information
This committee will host in-person meetings on a quarterly basis. We are seeking 15 parent members, 2 school administrators and 1 special education teacher from each grade level to be on the committee for the Spring of 2024. Applications will be accepted through January 10, 2024. All applications will be reviewed with district leadership including our TEA assigned monitors. The selected applicants names and applications will be sent to the TEA Executive Director of General Supervision and monitoring for final approval. The selected members will be notified before February 15, 2024 and will confirm the publication of their name on the AISD website. Our first meeting will be February 21, 2024 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm located at 4000 S. I-H 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, TX 78704.
Final Negotiated Agreed Order
The final, negotiated agreed order between Austin ISD and Texas Education Agency was voted on by our Board of Trustees on September 26, 2023. In this agreed order the Austin ISD Special Education Department will be creating a new Parent Advisory Committee. This can be found within Priority IV, item 7, pp. 24-26, which requires a specific application, review, and selection process which can be found within the SEFAC Bylaws

¿Cuál es el propósito del Comité Consultivo para las Familias de Educación Especial (SEFAC por sus siglas en Ingles)?
Este comité se enfocará en 3 metas primarias:
- Visión clara e inclusiva con Responsabilidad Compartida.
- Sólida instrucción de nivel 1 dentro de un Sistema de Apoyo Multinivel
- Evaluación y cumplimiento

Este comité llevará a cabo juntas trimestrales en persona.Estamos buscando a 15 miembros que sean padres de familia, 2 administradores escolares y 1 maestro de educación especial de cada grado para estar en el comité durante la primavera de 2024. Se aceptarán solicitudes hasta el 10 de enero del 2024. Todas las solicitudes las revisarán los líderes del distrito, incluyendo a monitores asignados por la TEA. Se enviarán los nombres de los solicitantes seleccionados y sus solicitudes al director general de Supervisión y Monitoreo de la TEA para su aprobación final. Una vez aprobados, se les notificará a los miembros seleccionados antes del 15 de febrero del 2024, y confirmarán la publicación de sus nombres en el sitio web SEFAC del AISD. Nuestra primera junta será el 21 de febrero de 2024 de 6:00 a 7:30 p.m. en 4000 S. I-H 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, TX 78704.
Orden final negociada y acordada
Se votó para la orden final negociada y acordada entre el Austin ISD y la Agencia de Educación de Texas en nuestra mesa directiva el 26 de septiembre del 2023. En esta orden acordada el Departamento de Educación Especial del Austin ISD estará creando un nuevo Comité Consultivo de Padres de Familia. Esto se puede encontrar dentro de Prioridad IV, punto 7, páginas. 24-26, que requiere un proceso de solicitud, revisión y selección (SEFAC Estatutos).
