Dig it: City Honors Bowie Science Teacher for Protecting School's Cave
The Austin City Council honored Bowie science teacher Jill Harding on May 18 for her work in making the "Bowie Cave" an educational resource for Bowie High School students.As the school was being built in 1989, a cave was discovered underneath the science wing. In 1995, Harding led an effort to make it safe for the public to access and explore the cave.

TEA Grants AISD $750,000 to Align Academic, Support Services Reagan Family of Schools
Austin ISD has been granted $750,000 as part of the Texas Education Agency Community Partnerships Initiative. The grant will focus on aligning academic programming as a core structure in the Reagan Early College High School learning community, complemented by streamlined student and family supports.

ENGAGEMENT. EMPOWERMENT. EQUITY. Beginning in Spring of 2020, all AISD students were able to receive an assigned device for use at school and home from Austin ISD. The Everyone:1 initiative launched in Fall of 2017. High school students were assigned their own device, followed by 8th grade students in Fall of 2019.
