Austin ISD celebrates Black History Month

Join Austin ISD as we celebrate the start of Black History Month at the district with a Pan-African Flag Raising Ceremony.

Black History Month provides an opportunity for deeper exploration of Black and African-American history than what is taught throughout the year.

Each campus receives resources, and are encouraged to collaborate with students and staff to design Black History Month activities that engage, educate and inspire.

Who: Superintendent Matias Segura, Spoken Word by 2nd grader Riley Olivia, New Day’s Lyric by Amanda Gorman read by students from Oak Springs Elementary and Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, and more.
