Austin ISD and Dell Technologies set to open new STEM learning center at Northeast Early College High School

Austin ISD in collaboration with Dell Technologies will celebrate the opening of the new STEM learning center at Northeast Early College High School on Wednesday, Oct. 20.

During the celebration, students will receive a tour of the new facility and learn about the opportunities available through the Dell partnership. Students will also get a chance to meet McLaren Formula 1 racers and learn about how STEM plays a major role in racing.

The new STEM learning center will play a major role in facilitating Northeast’s career and technology training program. This program, called P-TECH, includes the opportunity to take free college classes and earn an associate degree in cybersecurity from Austin Community College.

Northeast staff and students, in collaboration with Dell, designed the center to simulate a cybersecurity industry workplace. The new center includes a working data center, state-of-the-art computer labs, virtual reality and esports areas with flexible furniture.

The ribbon-cutting celebration, which will take place days ahead of the return of the U.S. Grand Prix to Austin, will be presided over McLaren F1 drivers Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo. McLaren Racing is a major proponent of STEM education, partnering with Dell Technologies to launch McLaren Substitute Teacher, a video series for children to learn from Dell and McLaren’s best and brightest about the analytics, physics, speed, health and technology that make F1 happen.
