Seniors can apply to college, financial aid, career advice
During College and Career Week, April 26-29, seniors and families will get access to important information as the Class of 2021 prepares to leave high school and enter college, careers or the military.
The Office of College & Career Readiness is hosting virtual information sessions for seniors and parents. The sessions will offer assistance with college applications, career advice and help filling out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid form.
The Zoom sessions are from 4:30-6 p.m., April 26-29.
All Class of 2021 seniors and their families are encouraged to register for at least one of the virtual help sessions. Even if students do not pre-register they will still have access to the Zoom link on the day.
Campus counselors are reaching out to seniors who have not completed a college application, career or trade school program application, signed-up with a branch of the military, or those who may still be needing to submit their FAFSA form.
During the week, seniors will also have scholarship incentives as they complete their college applications and FAFSA forms. Students will have two opportunities to enter scholarship drawings one for $1,000 from AISD and another $2,500 from the Austin Chamber of Commerce. Students who attend a virtual information session will automatically be entered into the AISD drawing. The Austin Chamber of Commerce $2,500 scholarship deadline has been extended through May 21.
To enter the Austin Chamber of Commerce scholarship competition, students must provide proof of FAFSA submission and make a short video encouraging their peers to complete their FAFSA. See here for additional details and the submission link.
