Statement by Superintendent Paul Cruz

"I thank Trustee Saldaña for his service and commitment to the students and families in the Austin Independent School District.

Trustee Saldaña approached his position with passion and enthusiasm and with the perspective as a parent and a life-long Austinite. His efforts included leading the charge to establish a Historically Underutilized Business program and advocating for high academic achievement and equity for all students.

I wish him well and respect his decision to spend more time with his wife and his four sons."
