AISD Hires HUB Program Director to Increase Diversity in Contract Awards

Debra Dibble Boone was appointed as Austin ISD's first Historically Underutilized Business program director.

The HUB director position was created as part of the implementation of a new program that establishes goals for the level of participation among women- and minority-owned businesses.

Boone will provide contract procurement and construction management direction in small and minority business relationships for AISD. As HUB director, she will also identify opportunities for monitoring, tracking and reporting HUB usage for professional services and construction bond projects with the district.

"We are excited for Debra to join the AISD construction management team in order to help us reach the women- and minority-owned business community," Chief Financial Officer Nicole Conley said. "Her experience will make an immediate impact in implementing the new district HUB program, and will enable AISD to forge new community relationships that make doing business better."

Prior to AISD, Boone served as assistant director for the Small and Minority
Business Resources Department at the City of Austin, where she was responsible for administering program policies and rules to enhance the development, implementation and operations for the department.

Prior to the City of Austin, she worked at Motorola and Texas Instruments in manufacturing, contracting and quality engineering. She also managed the HUB procurement programs at both companies.

Boone currently serves on a national compliance association board that trains and certifies staff working directly with programs similar to the district's HUB initiative.

Boone earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas.
