MEDIA ADVISORY: Austin ISD Celebrates Juneteenth at Annual Parade

Austin ISD invites the community to join faculty, staff, students and their families to march in the annual Juneteenth Emancipation Parade.  

Juneteenth commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas in June 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation went into effect.

What: Students from the Reagan High School Marching Band will perform as they march in the parade again this year.

When: 10 a.m.– noon June 18

Those interested in helping decorate the vehicles that will be in the parade, please arrive at 8 a.m. at Comal Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Where: Other participants should meet at 9:15 a.m. at the staging area at Comal Street and East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, to march in the parade to Rosewood Park, located at 2300 Rosewood Ave.
