AISD Invites Realtors to Tour Campuses in the LBJ Early College High School Family of Schools

Realtors will be riding an AISD school bus to visit four schools in east Austin to learn more about their academic programming, all to give Realtors a better idea of neighborhood schools in areas they may sell homes.

The visit includes LBJ Early College High School, Gus Garcia Young Men's Leadership Academy, Bertha Sadler Means Young Women's Leadership Academy and Blanton Elementary School.

This is the second tour of AISD schools offered in partnership with the Austin Board of Realtors. The tours are designed to inform Realtors of the programs offered within a set of "feeder" schools from elementary to high school. During lunch, Realtors will hear from principals from Andrews, Barbara Jordan, Harris, Overton, Pecan Springs, Sims and Norman elementary schools.

Last semester, AISD partnered with ABoR to tour schools in south Austin.

When: 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, March 1

Where: The tour will begin at the AISD Performing Arts Center, 1500 Barbara Jordan Blvd.

Lunch will be provided.

Tour Highlights
9 a.m. Blanton Elementary School will focus on robotics, after-school on education offerings and two-way dual-language. Blanton offers the Texas Literacy Initiative and Social and Emotional Learning.
10 a.m. Bertha Sadler Means Young Women's Leadership Academy, an all-girls academy in east Austin, will focus on the school's academics, such as science, technology, engineering and math, including the recent award of a $100,000 grant for a new STEM lab. The school offers career and technology classes through Project Lead the Way, a national leader in STEM programs.

12:20 p.m. LBJ Early College High School offers students the opportunity to graduate with a diploma in one hand and an associate degree in the other-for free-through the early college high school partnership with ACC. At LBJ Early College High School, students are not only preparing for college tomorrow, they are attending college today.
