Austin ISD invites area students entering and in high school to learn more about the unique opportunities available at all AISD high schools.
The AISD High School Showcase gives students and parents the opportunity to explore the many programs offered at AISD’s high school campuses. The event also allows families to speak with campus representatives who will answer questions and showcase their programs. Translators as well as community liaisons will be on hand to answer questions related to transfers. The event is free and open to the public.
The district will accept in-district transfer requests in-person or by mail through Jan. 29. Also, beginning Feb. 1, Austin ISD will accept out-of-district transfer requests for the 2016-17 school year. An out-of-district transfer is a process in which families who live outside of AISD can apply to have their student attend an AISD school.

Transportation: Beginning at 8:15 a.m., two buses will depart from each middle school at 8:15 a.m., with continued departures every half hour.
There will also be one bus each picking up from the Carruth Administration Center, 1111 W. Sixth St., and Austin High School,1715 W. Cesar Chavez St., and departing every half hour.
The showcase closes at noon and buses will continue shuttle service back to the middle schools, CAC and Austin High until 1 p.m.
Schools to be featured
Akins High School, located in far south Austin, is composed of six learning communities: Arts & Humanities, Business and Leadership, Green Tech, New Tech, Social Services and T-STEM. Through this structure, students are exposed to college and career pathways while receiving individualized instruction. The Akins High School community educates every student to be self-sufficient, strengthens every student to face challenges of mind and heart, and nurtures every student to become lifelong learners in a diverse world.
The school’s namesake, Dr. W. Charles Akins, helped lead the charge for Austin schools to value diversity, set high expectations and offer students and staff the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential.
Anderson High School, located in northwest Austin, serves a diverse population, with more than 50 languages spoken in students' homes. A highly experienced corps of teachers and administrators offers a challenging and enriching academic experience and a wide range of extracurricular activities.
Since 1991, Anderson High School has been authorized as an International Baccalaureate school. IB is a comprehensive curriculum that challenges highly motivated high school students by focusing on higher-level learning skills, creative thinking, interdisciplinary studies and community service with an international perspective on learning.
Anderson has been named a T-STEM academy by the Texas Education Agency. Anderson’s career and technology programs highlight medical, engineering, film, manufacturing and computer science. The Applied Technology Center provides a facility for students from area schools to work on science, technology, engineering and math projects, such as robotics.
The Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, a community of young women who are committed to changing the world, is ranked among the best schools in Texas and the U.S.
The all-girls school prepares sixth- through 12th-graders attend and complete college with a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle. In addition to providing rigorous academics, ARS encourages all students to develop real-world service projects, which challenge them to lead with courage and compassion, while solving problems creatively and ethically.
The school’s namesake, Gov. Ann Richards, played an instrumental role in developing the ARS vision. Austin High School, located in the heart of the city, is the oldest continuously operating public high school in Texas. Bowie High School, located on 60 acres in southwest Travis County, is the largest comprehensive high school in the district, with more than 200 faculty and staff members in 160 classrooms and labs. Crockett High School, located in south Austin, fosters a community of learners and leaders. At Crockett, Cougar pride is evident throughout the campus, on every playing field and in classrooms. Eastside Memorial High School offers a world of opportunities—from arts and athletics to health sciences and robotics—to help students achieve their greatest potential. The Graduation Preparatory Academy at Lanier High School is a unique educational setting that offers credit recovery and accelerated learning to students in a self-paced, non-traditional environment. Through a variety of tech platforms (such as GradPoint, Odyssey and Edgenuity), students work toward fulfilling their potential, looking toward high school graduation and beyond.

The Graduation Preparatory Academy at Travis Early College High School is designed to help students with credit recovery and acceleration. GPA at Travis provides a non-traditional setting with online curriculum, and gives students an opportunity to work independently and advance at their own pace. Dedicated faculty and staff provide a supportive and structured learning environment to meet each student’s academic needs.
GPA at Travis also provides a flex-schedule option aimed to support the needs of our working student population.
