Effective on Tuesday, Dec. 15, Gina Hinojosa will resign as Austin ISD board president.
Hinojosa thanks those who have helped in her role as board president and in the board's work. Hinojosa has filed as a candidate to run for the District 49 seat in the Texas House of Representatives.

The law does not require Hinojosa to resign as a Board Trustee. Hinojosa will remain a board trustee. However, she believes it is appropriate to withdraw as board president.
Hinojosa was elected to the board in November 2012 and was elected board president by her fellow trustees in January.
