AISD Board of Trustees Appoints Technology Officer for Teaching and Learning

Tonight the Austin ISD Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Kevin Schwartz to the newly created position of Technology Officer for Learning and Systems.
 
The position was created as part of the recent AISD central administration reorganization to become a more streamlined and nimble organization.
 
Schwartz will provide extensive, progressive, technical and educational experience in technology for AISD. As technology officer for teaching and learning he will provide leadership in identifying, assessing and managing technology needs for the district.
 
Prior to AISD, Schwartz served as chief technology officer at Clear Creek ISD near Houston, where he was responsible for integrating instructional technology into classroom, campus and district operating systems.
 
Schwartz facilitated more than $40 million of bond allotments for instructional technology while at Clear Creek ISD.
 
Prior to Clear Creek ISD, Schwartz was the director of technology services at Eanes ISD, where he assisted in the introduction and deployment of a one-to-one iPad to student program. While at Eanes, he was responsible for all phases of network and server infrastructure, IT security, administrative systems and integrated systems for the school district.
 
Schwartz earned a bachelor of science degree in Geography with an emphasis in Geographic Information Systems from Texas State University.
