Conservation Study Helps AISD Find Cost Savings

AISD, EDF and Google to Release Findings of 10-Week Energy Conservation Study

Austin ISD, Environmental Defense Fund and Google are holding an event showcasing the findings of a 10-week study on energy conservation at AISD.

AISD hosted an EDF Climate Corps Fellow, Maxwell Sykes, this summer to help the district better understand its energy consumption and costs. Sykes will deliver a report and presentation outlining organizational and process improvements AISD could make to reduce energy use and cost. The fellowship is managed by EDF and funded by a community grant from Google.

Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, Sykes has an undergraduate degree in business and is currently earning a master’s degree in resource and environmental management. He previously managed a sustainability-focused community planning and design firm.
