Austin ISD Achieves Highest Ever Graduation Rate, Lowest Dropout Rate for Sixth Straight Year

Graduation rate increases to 86.3 percent, dropout rates decreases to 1.5 percent

Austin ISD is proud to announce that its graduation rates have again improved, reaching their highest ever at 86.3 percent. 

"The numbers speak for themselves as they continue to show all of the solid work we have going on in Austin ISD," Austin ISD Superintendent Paul Cruz said. 

"Every success we have in the district is because of great teachers in every classroom and quality programs that make a difference for our students," Cruz said. 

The district's graduation rates have increased steadily over the past six years, rising 12 percentage points since 2008. Most student groups also posted gains over last year.

Dropout rates have also improved, decreasing from 4.2 percent in 2008 to 1.5 percent in 2014 for all students. 

The dropout rate also decreased for every student group last year. 

The greatest improvement was for special education students, with a decrease of 2.1 percentage points from last year.
