State's funding formulas were created the same year as Tetris
Austin ISD continues its Lunch and Learn series for the media with a showing of a short video on school funding, presented by AISD's Chief Financial Officer Nicole Conley.
What: Nicole Conley, chief financial officer, will present a video about the district's unique financial situation within Texas and will be available for questions.
When: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Thursday, April 30. Lunch will be provided, beginning at 11:30 a.m., with discussion beginning at 11:45 a.m.
Where: Carruth Administration Center, Suite A-230, 1111 W. Sixth St.
Background: This year, AISD expects to send $175 million in local property tax revenue to the state, more than any other school district in Texas.
To determine how much state funding our district receives, the state uses formulas developed in 1984.
The district's commitment to offering all children educational opportunities that prepare them to succeed in college, career and life becomes more challenging each year under the state's system of financing public schools.
