Media Advisory: 17 Student Filmmakers to Showcase Work During SXSWedu

Film and panel to be at new AISD Performing Arts Center

AISD hosts a special SXSWedu premiere of “AISD: The Pride and Promise of Austin,” stories from students about how they are supported, challenged and encouraged to succeed.

What: Seventeen student filmmakers, each with a unique perspective, capture the richness and diversity of life in the district’s high schools.

The films highlight the dedication of the teachers, coaches, families and community members who inspire students every day.

Following the film, there will be a panel discussion with the filmmakers, moderated by Hema Mullur of KEYE TV.

When: 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12; doors open at 6 p.m.

Where: AISD Performing Arts Center, 1500 Barbara Jordan Blvd.

Background: The idea behind the project is to allow AISD students to tell stories about their lives in Austin and how they are changed every day by the opportunities their education provides them.
