John Baird, a first year teacher in AISD at Reagan Early College High School, submitted his resignation on Monday, after his arrest by Lago Vista Police. He is no longer employed at AISD.

AISD received information over the winter break that Baird was being investigated under the suspicion of "enticing a child" by Lago Vista Police. The incident being investigated involved a Lago Vista resident.

There is no evidence at this time to indicate that any Reagan students were harmed by Mr. Baird. Parents were sent a school messenger informing them of the arrest on Tuesday. AISD encourages parents to take this opportunity to speak with their children about what to do if they feel uncomfortable about any behavior and how to report such behavior to responsible adults.

The Reagan school community will work together to ensure classes continue as scheduled and that the learning environment for all students on campus remains uninterrupted, safe and protected.
