Two of the three candidates withdraw from consideration
At the board of trustees' Monday, Dec. 8 special meeting, trustees voted to hold a public forum on Saturday, Dec. 13, and invite the top three candidates for the position of superintendent to participate. Those top three candidates included Interim Superintendent Paul Cruz.
Video from Monday night's meeting can be found here.
Through the executive search firm Ray and Associates, as of Wednesday, Dec. 10, the board of trustees has been informed that the other two candidates have declined to participate further in the search process, and have decided to withdraw at this time from consideration for the position. Austin ISD is not at liberty to release the names of the candidates who declined to continue the interview process.
Cruz will be the only candidate at the forum this Saturday.
During the forum, Cruz will have the opportunity to interact with the community, make comments and discuss district issues, and respond to questions from the community.
During their regular board meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, trustees will determine whether to name a sole finalist.
