AUSTIN, Texas—This weekend, Austin ISD will hold an official dedication ceremony for the Gus Garcia Young Men’s Leadership Academy.

What: A dedication ceremony, featuring remarks by Congressman Lloyd Doggett, Former State Rep. Wilhelmina Delco, Interim Superintendent Paul Cruz and AISD Trustee Cheryl Bradley

When: 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12

Where: Gus Garcia Young Men’s Leadership Academy, 7414 Johnny Morris Road

Background: Beginning this school year, Gus Garcia Young Men’s Leadership Academy opened as a middle school for young men.

The Gus Garcia Young Men's Leadership Academy educates scholars in an academic environment where they will learn to be leaders and provide community service, empathetic toward others, develop a strong sense of community, graduate from a four-year college or university and/or pursue a career.
