AUSTIN, Texas—Austin ISD’s Bryker Woods Elementary School invites the community to help celebrate its 75th anniversary this year.
Who: Mayor Lee Leffingwell will give a city proclamation at Bryker Woods’ morning assembly
What: An All-campus parade through the Bryker Woods Neighborhood and an all-school picnic. (In case of rain, a pep rally will take place inside instead of the parade.)
When: 7:45 a.m. city proclamation; 8:15 a.m. walking parade; 6 p.m. picnic Friday, Sept. 19
Where: Bryker Woods Elementary School,3309 Kerbey Lane
Background: Bryker Woods Elementary, which earned a distinction of Academic Achievement in Reading/English language arts (ELA) and Science and Post Secondary Readiness from the Texas Education Agency, has a rich tradition of excellence since the school opened its doors to Kindergarten through sixth grade children in 1939. The school was eventually enlarged with the addition of classrooms and a small gym, and was once again remodeled in 1986 adding office space, a driveway in the front of the school and additional parking.
