District shares process, timeline and call for community feedback at meetings in July
AUSTIN, Texas—Tomorrow, AISD will provide media with an update about the critical next steps in the search for a new superintendent and the important role the community will play in the next phase of the process, which is to develop the candidate profile of the preferred characteristics that the district’s new leader should possess.
What: Vincent Torres, president of the Board of Trustees, will provide media with an overview of the next steps in the superintendent search, including an invitation for AISD team members, families and the Austin community to share their perspectives on the development of a profile for the future superintendent at meetings in July. Nicole Conley, the district’s chief financial officer who is coordinating the search with Ray & Associates, also will be available to provide information about the process and contract with the search firm.
When: from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Thursday, June 26.
Where: Carruth Administration Center, Board Auditorium, 1111 W. Sixth St.
Background: Ray & Associates, the executive search firm hired to support the process, developed a survey to help build a list of desired qualities that is a match for the unique needs of AISD—a $1 billion educational organization with more than 120 campus communities, more than 85,000 students and about 12,000 team members. AISD is committed to providing all students with a quality education, while operating in a period of transformative change as demographics in Austin have shifted and the fiscal landscape of public education has changed.
Community input will help trustees better understand what AISD employees, parents, students and the community feel is important to consider as they finalize their plans to find AISD’s next superintendent.
The search firm’s survey is available online in English, Spanish and Vietnamese at http://www.austinisd.org/superintendent-search.
