Under the direction of James Hairston, director of bands at Lamar Middle School, Jazz Factory competed against other middle school and high school jazz bands at Festival Disney during spring break and earned a Disney Performing Arts award, a Superior Rating award, a Best in Class award and a Gold Mickey award for winning first place. 

Nubia R., a trombonist from Lamar, was chosen as Outstanding Soloist for the entire competition.
