AISD Invites Community to Help Name North Central Elementary School No. 2

AUSTIN, Texas—Austin ISD’s  Board of Trustees invites community members to submit nominations for the name of a new elementary school campus in north Austin. The school, located at 2011 W. Rundberg Lane, is under construction and scheduled to open in August.

The nomination process will close on March 16 at midnight. The school board is scheduled to take action in April.

The school, now known as North Central Elementary School No. 2, will help alleviate overcrowding and address the needs of the school district’s growing community. It is one of nine new schools and a district-wide performing arts center that were included in the 2004 and 2008 bond programs.

Due to limited available land in the area, the Board of Trustees approved the purchase of a site with an existing building, which the school district is adapting and repurposing for use as a school facility.

This year, North Central Elementary School No. 1 opened as the Janis Guerrero-Thompson Elementary School.
