AUSTIN, Texas—The Austin Independent School District released the following statement regarding the Texas Civil Rights Project’s call to action and report released today:

The district was made aware of the Texas Civil Rights Project’s call to action and updated report today by the local media.  The district will have a response as soon as we have had a reasonable opportunity to review the updated report, its findings and recommendations – just as we did in response to their original September 2012 report, which can be found at www.austinisd.org/answers.

For years, this district has devoted itself to figuring out how to address the immense challenges that comes with socioeconomic inequities. AISD is always open to listening and finding common ground any time someone approaches us with yet another possible solution.
