AUSTIN, Texas—Austin ISD’s William B. Travis High School invites the community to the Travis Rebel Expo, a showcase of the school’s programs.

What: Various programs, including art, Audio/Visual productions, engineering, the culinary arts, guitar, hospitality, ROTC, science/biology and theater arts, will showcase its work. During the expo, the school’s engineering program will battle robots; AV production classes will show movies made by former students; the art department will display student artwork; the biology department will have an interactive walk through with microscopes; guitar students will play music throughout the school; and hospitality will be guides/hosts for visitors.

Background: Travis High School's focus on Advanced Academics continues to strengthen as seen in the increased number of Advanced Placement courses and passing scores. In addition, Travis High School is supporting Advanced Career and Technical Education courses by adding 3D manufacturing and HVAC next year to already existing programs like engineering, video game design and graphic design, which can help students earn endorsements under the new graduation plan.

The school has seen a steady increase in attendance and a 25 percent improvement on graduation rates over the past three years. William B. Travis High School is the home to the district’s only Academic Decathlon team and Rhodes Scholar.
