AUSTIN, Texas—Austin ISD and Austin Voices for Education and Youth hosts the last of three community meetings about the future use of the Allan facility.
The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 at Ortega Elementary School.
AISD planned three community meetings throughout the semester to gather input about possible uses of the vacant, former Allan Elementary School facility, located at 4900 Gonzales St.
Parents and community members in the current Govalle and Ortega elementary school attendance areas, as well as interested stakeholders are invited to attend the meetings or submit their input about the facility online at www.austinisd.org/community/allan/input.
AISD has posted the minutes for the first two meetings:
Meeting notes from the Oct. 16 meeting at Eastside Memorial High School.
Meeting notes from the Nov. 6 meeting at Govalle Elementary School.
Ideas for the use of the Allan fall into four categories:
- Use the facility as a school
- Use the facility for workforce/STEM/career training
- Relocate AISD offices currently in leased property and
- Other options
The administration will use the public’s input to determine viable options that can be submitted to the Board of Trustees for consideration.
Translation and childcare services will be available at the meetings.
