AUSTIN, Texas—Austin ISD has prepared a special night to showcase the district’s vocalists at the All-City Choral Festival. At the event, approximately 800 singers will perform for more than 2,000 attendees.
What: All-City Choral Festival, featuring 49 elementary schools, 14 middle schools and 11 high schools, combines students into three honor choirs. Each honor choir performs three to five pieces and then a grand finale is performed by all the singers.
When: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29
Where: Riverbend Centre, 4214 N. Capital of Texas Hwy.
Background: This year the elementary school honor choir is under the direction of Barbara Manson from Perez and Norma Hawes from Pleasant Hill. The middle school conductors are Helena Fischer from Bedichek, Ellen Parks from Kealing, Brad Heckler from Gorzycki and Jay Martin from Murchison. The high school choir is under the direction of guest conductor and retired Bowie choral director, Sheryl Jones.
Elda Garcia from Zilker, Brad Heckler from Gorzycki, T.R. Forrest from Austin and Patricia Moreno, fine arts instructional coordinator organized this event.
Each student performer receives tickets for family and friends. A limited number of free tickets are available at the schools.
