MEDIA ADVISORY: AISD Holds Community Meetings on Facility Master Plan

AUSTIN, Texas—Austin ISD is holding community meetings throughout the district to get feedback on the Facility Master Plan.

FMP guiding principles were approved by AISD’s Board of Trustees at the Board's regular meeting on Sept. 30.

What: Community meeting, featuring a presentation on the Facility Master Plan (FMP): History, Context, and Guiding Principles presented by Chief Operations Officer Lawrence Fryer and the Executive Director of Facilities Paul Turner; staff from the facilities department will be present to answer questions. 

When/Where:

  • Thursday, Oct. 24, 6:30-8 p.m., LBJ High School cafeteria, 7309 Lazy Creek Drive
  • Tuesday, Oct. 29, 6:30-8 p.m., Crockett High School, 5601 Manchaca Road
  • Wednesday, Oct. 30, 6:30-8 p.m., Austin High School cafeteria, 1715 W. Cesar Chavez St.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 6, 6:30-8 p.m., Lanier High School cafeteria, 1201 Payton Gin Road

Background: The purpose of these meetings will be to provide an FMP development overview, board-adopted guiding principles and FMP development milestones. The FMP, once completed, will identify long-term facilities needs including: individual campus needs; system-wide needs, such as the replacement of aging equipment and technology; and new facilities.

The scheduled meetings are the first of a series of meetings that are planned during the development of the FMP, scheduled for completion in June 2014.  Additional meetings will be held in the months ahead, providing additional opportunities for community engagement.
