Austin, Texas—During Spring Break, the Austin Independent School District will participate in SXSW activities—from a discussion on how education fuels Austin’s tech industry at the interactive festival to a performance at Rachel Ray’s Feedback event at the music festival.
Sunday, March 10: Pauline Dow Joins Panel on Fueling Austin’s Tech Industry
What: Pauline Dow, AISD’s chief academic officer, will discuss “Fueling Austin’s Tech Industry with Education” at a SXSW interactive session with Donald Christian, dean of the College of Business at Concordia University; Nathan Green, president and co-founder of campus2careers; and Richard Rhodes, president and CEO of the Austin Community College District.
When: 11 a.m.-noon Sunday, March 10
Where: Hilton Austin Downtown, Austin Chamber Offices, 535 E. 5th St.
Background: The SXSW session examines how educators from high school to college are influencing and supporting education systems, which must react to the need to develop new skills, curriculum and resources as technology continues to change the world at a quick pace.

Saturday, March 16: Eastside Memorial’s Panther Band Takes the Stage at Stubb’s
What: Eastside Memorial High School’s Panther Band will kick-off Rachel Ray’s Feedback event at SXSW, performing a rock and roll set as music fans arrive.

Background: The Feedback event features performance by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Eagles of Death Metal, Frightened Rabbit, Reignwolf, The Sheepdogs, Delta Rae, The Cringe, Bob Schneider, The Weeks, ZZ Ward, Spirit Family Reunion, PUJOL and The 1975.
