Austin, TX—Austin Independent School District is offering its annual Kindergarten Roundup at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, at elementary schools. Children who live in the district's assignment area and will be five years old on or before Sept. 1, are eligible to be enroll in AISD.

Parents should bring the following to Kindergarten Roundup:

The child's birth certificateCurrent immunization recordsProof of parent's residence in Austin ISD, such as a current utility bill or lease agreementParent/guardian photo identification

During Kindergarten Roundup, parents will receive information about AISD's full-day, kindergarten program, including curriculum, daily schedules, attendance requirements, school year calendar, how to help a child prepare for school and the campus.

Early kindergarten registration helps the district determine enrollments, assign staff and meet each individual school's needs. Accurate enrollment projections reduce the need to reorganize classes or reassign teachers after school has started.

Classes for the 2012-13 school year will begin Monday, Aug. 27.
