Austin, TX—Students at O. Henry Middle School will learn about living and working in space by speaking with Expedition 30 Commander Dan Burbank and Flight Engineers Don Pettit and Andre Kuipers aboard the International Space Station (ISS) Tuesday, April 3. Through their science classes, more than 100 students in sixth- through eighth-grade will participate in a live question-and-answer session that will be broadcast live on NASA Television.

U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith is expected to join the group for this special event.

The students will communicate with the astronauts utilizing an audio/video downlink. This in-flight, education downlink is a signal satellite transmission from the ISS to a receiving station on Earth. It is one in a series with educational organizations in the United States and abroad to improve science, technology, engineering and mathematics teaching and learning. It is an integral component of NASA's Teaching from Space Program, which promotes learning opportunities and builds partnerships with the education community using the unique environment of space and NASA's human spaceflight program.
