The Austin School District will cut energy costs this summer — and save approximately $471,000 — by reducing its days of operation in the month of July. Two cutbacks will occur:

  • All schools and offices will be closed one entire week — Monday, July 4, through Friday, July 8.
  • All schools and offices began a four-day week this week that will continue through July 25. On Monday through Thursday of these weeks, office hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and offices will be closed every Friday in July. Employees will work a 10-hour day on a flexible schedule.

AISD's regular five-day week will resume on Monday, August 1. Classes for the 2011-2012 school year will begin on Monday, August 22.
