Kindergarten Roundup is set for 9 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, at all elementary schools in the Austin School District.
Children who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2011, are eligible to be enrolled. Parents should bring to Kindergarten Roundup:
- The child’s birth certificate.
- Current immunization records
- Proof of parent’s residence in the Austin School District, such as a current utility bill or lease agreement.
- Parent photo ID
At Kindergarten Roundup, parents will receive information about the Austin School District’s full-day kindergarten program, including curriculum, daily schedules, attendance requirements, the school year calendar, how to help a child prepare for school, and information specific to the individual campus.
Early kindergarten registration assists the District in determining enrollments, assigning staff, and meeting individual school needs. Accurate enrollment projections reduce the need to reorganize classes and teachers after school has started.
Parents who do not know which school their child will attend may call the Austin School District at 414-1726, or check the AISD website at https://access.austinisd.org/school_boundaries/?lang=en
Information regarding a tuition-supported pre-Kindergarten program also will be available during the roundup at the following schools: Becker, Boone, Casis, Davis, Dawson, Hill, Ridgetop, and Sunset Valley.
Children who are four years old on or before September 1, and who do not qualify for either the Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) or the state-mandated pre-Kindergarten program provided for qualifying students are eligible to enroll. Information about eligibility is available by contacting AISD's Department of Early Childhood Education at 414-4790.
Classes for the 2011-2012 school year will begin on Monday, August 22.
