The website of the Austin School District has been honored with a “Sunny Award” by editors of the Sunshine Review, a non-profit organization that promotes state and local government transparency.

Only 112 of the more than 6,000 government websites ranked by the Sunshine Review earned a “Sunny Award.” The Austin ISD website scored an “A” on the Sunshine Review’s Transparency Checklist. On March 21, 2011, AISD launched a comprehensive redesign of its website that features an attractive new front page, and a more modern core design that will allow quicker access to the critical information most important to parents, students, staff, and community. The new site also features portals that showcase photos, videos, news, awards and achievements. The website redesign was completed entirely by staff at no additional cost to the District. Feedback received from staff and the community during a website preview in December 2010, helped inform the final website design.
