Monday, November 6
I’ll start my day meeting with Oscar Rodriguez, our Chief Technology Officer. From there, I’ll have standing meetings with our Senior Leadership Team. In the afternoon, I have a few meetings with principal candidates. I’ll also meet with Dr. Stephanie Hawley, Chief of the Office of Organizational Transformation (formerly the Office of Equity), and attend a Special Education Quality Assurance meeting. I’ll end the day with my one-on-one with Board President Singh and a meeting with Frank Fuentes, the head of the Hispanic Contractors Association.
Tuesday, November 7
This morning I’ll start the day by meeting with elementary school leaders in the Superintendent’s Cohort. This group meets four times a year to ensure our campuses that need the most support get prioritized support from the Chiefs in the organization. In the afternoon, I’ll attend a governance planning session with our board officers and attend the Austin Association of Public School Administrators. This group brings forward ideas and solutions to the current challenges we are facing as a district. This is one of my favorite meetings of the month!
From there, I’ll head to Austin High School to attend their CAC Meeting and evening Benefit Concert.
Wednesday, November 8
I’ll begin my day with our monthly Principals Meeting, where we’ll enjoy a special Thanksgiving Lunch. In the afternoon, I’ll have my one-on-one with the district’s new General Counsel, Kenneth Walker. Next, I’ll connect with Coach Taylor of the Austin Striders. This fabulous organization works with our young athletes training them to compete in college and university track and field programs. It’s a busy afternoon from there with meetings with the St. David’s Foundation, discussing the Blue Santa Partnership, and finally dinner with Rudy Garza, the incoming president of The Austin Chamber.
Thursday, November 9
Today I will start my day meeting with Sheriff Sally Hernandez. In the middle of the day, I’ll meet with the Ann Richards School Foundation Board of Directors. The afternoon is dedicated to preparing for the Board Information Session.
Friday, November 10
Today starts with a meeting with Constable George Morales. I’ll then participate in a panel at an Association for Learning Environments meeting (A4LE). The afternoon is set aside for work time to prepare for the coming week. This evening I will attend the AVANCE 25th Anniversary Gala. AVANCE is a leading national non-profit organization working to transform the lives of underserved, under-resourced families.
