Austin ISD Office of Academics and Social and Emotional Learning will host the first of three meetings for families to address the revision of the Human Sexuality and Responsibility Curricula for elementary and middle schools.
We invite you to attend a meeting on Nov. 8 at Travis Early College High School Cafeteria, Nov. 13 at Lanier ECHS or Nov. 15 at Eastside Memorial ECHS. All three meetings are scheduled from 6–7:30 p.m. and will have the same content.
Families will be informed about the national and local human sexuality education curriculum standards, policies and research. Families will be asked to assist in the development of the revision of our Human Sexuality and Responsibility curriculum (scope and sequence, standards) by providing feedback with an online survey for grades 3–5 and 6–8.
Any revised curriculum for grades 3–8 will be implemented in the 2019–20 school year. Austin ISD will also be seeking feedback on curriculum for kindergarten through grade 2 for possible implementation beyond the school year 2019–20.
Attendees are asked to bring a charged device or smartphone to complete the online survey. Devices will also be available as needed.
Spanish interpretation and surveys in Spanish will also be available.

The primary contact for each student will receive an email about how to complete the survey related to the revisions of the Human Sexuality and Responsibility Curriculum. The primary contact is based on the most current contact information in each student’s school records. Families who do not have an email account on record will be able to access the survey online through the Parent Cloud.
Important note: The survey will allow only one response per student, whether the survey is taken at one of the open meetings or elsewhere. Please plan accordingly. AISD will email the survey to all primary contacts and make it available in the Parent Cloud on Nov. 7. The survey will close at midnight Nov. 30.
Juntas sobre el plan de estudios de Sexualidad Humana y Responsabilidad para las familias
La Oficina de Asuntos Académicos y Aprendizaje Social y Emocional del Austin ISD presentará la primera de tres juntas para que las familias revisen el plan de estudios de Sexualidad Humana y Responsabilidad para escuelas primarias y secundarias.
Le invitamos a asistir a una junta el 8 de nov. en la cafetería de la Escuela Preparatoria de Universidad Temprana Travis, el 13 de nov. en la Preparatoria Lanier o el 15 de nov. en la Preparatoria Eastside Memorial. Las tres juntas están programadas de 6-7:30 p.m. y tendrán el mismo contenido.
Se les informará a las familias sobre los estándares, normas e investigaciones sobre el plan de estudios nacional y local de educación sobre sexualidad humana. Se les pedirá a los padres de familia que ayuden a revisar nuestro plan de estudios de Sexualidad Humana y Responsabilidad (ámbito y orden, estándares) al comentar por medio de una encuesta en línea para 3.° a 5.° y 6.° a 8. ° grados.
Todos los planes de estudio para 3.° a 8.° grado que se hayan modificado se implementarán en el ciclo escolar 2019–20.
El Austin ISD también pedirá comentarios para el plan de estudios para kínder a 2.° grado para su posible implementación después del ciclo escolar 2019–20. Se les pide a los asistentes que traigan un dispositivo o teléfono inteligente cargado para llenar la encuesta en línea. También habrá dispositivos disponibles si se necesitan.
También habrá interpretación al español y encuestas en español disponibles.
