Austin ISD will celebrate its inaugural Diversity Day on Saturday, May 20th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Austin HS. The date was selected in observance of the United Nations´ World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development
(May 1st), which promotes understanding of the values of cultural diversity.
Goals:
- Celebrate the diversity of languages and cultures in AISD
- Engage families and communicate that they have a role in AISD
- Create access to services and opportunities for families in AISD
- Help families understand how to navigate AISD
The event will include cultural performances, music and food from different countries, a multicultural gallery, a resource fair, and conversation circles to discuss outreach and community engagement.

Free shuttles will run from various schools throughout the district beginning at 9:30 a.m.
