GENaustin We Are Girls Conference

What: Austin's Girls Empowerment Network (GENaustin) will be holding its annual We Are Girls Conference for girls in grades 5-12. This event is open to parents as well and will be a place that two generations can share a day of learning in a safe, non-judgmental environment.

Rosalind Wiseman, author of Queen Bees and Wanna Bees-the inspiration for the movie “Mean Girls,” will be the keynote speaker. Topics will include bullying, cyber bullying, self image, dating, diversity, financial literacy, media literacy, parent-daughter relationships and physical health and wellness.

Snacks and lunch will be provided. Registration is $30 for individuals and $25 per person with groups of three or more. Scholarships to attend the conference are also available.

When: Saturday, November 12, 2011 from 9:00am-4:00pm (doors open at 8 a.m., program begins at 9 a.m.)
