Dear Team Austin ISD,
Welcome back to what I believe is going to be a fabulous school year!
I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are feeling refreshed and energized. I personally was longing for some quality family time and am grateful that, for the first time in several years, my whole family was able to go on a summer trip together!
It was exactly what I needed, and now, I’m super pumped to be returning this school year as your superintendent.
Now is a great time to be part of Team Austin ISD! We’ve come a long way, and this is just the beginning.
Together, we’re going to be part of something special. Together, we’ll build strong schools and a stronger Austin.
Have a great week and be sure to tune in to AISD.TV at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 8 for the world premier of our Austin ISD Convocation! It will also play at the top of the hour, every hour until 7 p.m.

Some exciting work took place these last few months and there’s a lot to look forward to.
Introducing the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Leading
To better align our work and improve support to our schools, the former offices of Academics and School Leadership have been woven into one—the Office of Teaching, Learning and Leading.
Goodbye, Human Capital. Hello, Talent Strategy!
The former Office of Human Capital worked through an official rebrand and restructure throughout the spring and summer and is now the Office of Talent Strategy.

This strategic shift embraces a more collaborative, progressive mindset by prioritizing talent development, recruitment, retention and engagement.

The change is about more than a name, it’s a shift in mindset that we hope you will see and feel. Our goal is for everyone to feel #AISDHome in Austin ISD.
Welcome, Instructional Coaches!
Our new instructional coaches started training in late July and we’re so excited to see them in action on our campuses.

Instructional coaches will partner with teachers 1:1 and in small groups, conducting classroom observations and reflecting on their practice. Coaches and teachers will work together to identify instructional goals and develop plans to achieve them.

This reimagined approach to the role is research-based and is what many of our teachers have told us they need to feel supported and grow in their practice.
ERP Launch
For more than a year, team members from Finance, Technology and Talent Strategy have worked to launch our Enterprise Resource Planning system.

The ERP is an integrated system that streamlines day-to-day operations and allows us to swiftly make data-driven decisions in areas such as recruitment, hiring, payroll and budget.

While we may experience some bumps along the way, this transition will streamline our systems and make them more reliable and secure.

¡Bienvenidos a lo que yo creo que será un ciclo escolar fabuloso!
Espero que todos hayan tenido un verano maravilloso y se sientan renovados y energizados. ¡Yo en lo personal, anhelaba tener un poco de tiempo de calidad en familia y estoy agradecido de que, por primera vez en muchos años, mi familia completa pudo ir a un viaje de verano juntos!
Era exactamente lo que necesitaba, y ahora estoy súper emocionado de regresar este ciclo escolar como su superintendente.
¡Ahora es un gran momento para ser parte del Equipo Austin ISD! Hemos llegado muy lejos y esto es solo el inicio.
Juntos hemos sido parte de algo especial. Juntos construiremos escuelas fuertes y un Austin más fuerte.

Un trabajo emocionante tuvo lugar estos últimos meses y hay mucho de lo que se puede esperar.
Presentamos a la Oficina de Enseñanza, Aprendizaje y Liderazgo
Para alinear nuestro trabajo de mejor manera y mejorar el apoyo a nuestras escuelas; lo que eran las oficinas de Asuntos Académicos y de Liderazgo Escolar se han convertido en una, la Oficina de Enseñanza, Aprendizaje y Liderazgo.
Adiós, Capital Humano. ¡Hola, Estrategia para el Talento!
La antigua Oficina de Capital Humano trabajó para hacer un cambio de marca oficial y una reestructuración durante la primavera y el verano y ahora es la Oficina de Estrategia para el Talento.

Este cambio estratégico acoge una forma de pensar progresiva, de más colaboración al priorizar el desarrollo del talento, reclutamiento, retención y participación.

El cambio implica más que un nombre, es un cambio de la forma de pensar que esperamos que ustedes lo puedan ver y sentir. Nuestra meta es que todos sientan #AISDHome en Austin ISD.
¡Bienvenidos, facilitadores de instrucción!
Nuestros nuevos facilitadores de instrucción empezaron su capacitación a finales de julio y estamos muy emocionados por verlos en acción en nuestras escuelas.

Los facilitadores de instrucción colaborarán con los maestros individualmente y en pequeños grupos, en los salones de clases llevarán a cabo observaciones y reflexiones sobre su práctica. Los instructores y los maestros trabajarán juntos para identificar metas de instrucción y desarrollar planes para lograrlas.

Este enfoque reimaginado de la función, está basado en investigaciones y es lo que muchos de nuestros maestros nos han dicho, que necesitan sentirse apoyados y desarrollarse en sus prácticas.
Lanzamiento de ERP
Por más de un año, los miembros del equipo de Finanzas, Tecnología y Estrategia para el Talento han trabajado para lanzar nuestro sistema Planificación de Recursos Empresariales (ERP, por sus siglas en inglés).

El ERP es un sistema integrado que optimiza las operaciones diarias y nos permite tomar de decisiones rápidas y basadas en datos en áreas como reclutamiento, contratación, nómina y presupuesto.

Aunque podremos encontrarnos con algunos tropiezos en el camino, esta transición optimizará nuestros sistemas y los hará más confiables y seguros.
