Back to School Bash
On Aug. 12, Austin ISD, in collaboration with the city of Austin, will host its annual Back to School Bash and Safety Fair from 9 a.m.–noon at the Palmer Events Center. Almost 150 community organizations and district departments will provide information and activities to prepare AISD students for a safe and successful school year.

The Austin Council of PTAs, in collaboration with the AISD Parent Engagement Support Office, invites you to set-up your PTA/PTSA for success for 2017-2018.
This training for newly-elected PTA officers will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29 at the Baker Center.
Training sessions will include leadership orientation, conflict management and relationship building. We invite you to meet with your newly-elected executive board to set goalsand get organized.

Austin's CTE Students Capstone Exercise

The public is invited to watch the LBJ Fire Academy, the LBJ A/V department, the Criminal Justice department at Lanier HS, and the LASA Robotics Team hold a capstone exercise.
The fire academy will respond to a simulated fire and conduct all the operations involved with fighting fire, including emergency medical training.
The Criminal Justice students will conduct scene control operations, while the LASA robotics students are building a robot that will be able to do a search in the fire rooms.
The LBJ Audio/Visual department will operate its drone to capture stunning video as well as using handheld cameras.
The capstone exercise is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 22 at 4800B Shaw Lane.

Austin ISD 2017–18 Instructional Calendar / Calendario Escolar 2017–18 del Austin ISD
Austin ISD wants to share some important dates for the 2017–18 school year.
With the board’s approval Monday night that Austin ISD become a District of Innovation, there is more flexibility in the instructional calendar.
Specifically, the district is allowed to begin instruction before the fourth Monday in August.

Special Board Meeting
The Austin ISD Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the board auditorium at the CAC.
The topic is the district's proposed Facility Master Plan, and a vote to consider adoption is possible.
The recommended FMP is available online at austinisd.org/fmp.
Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee (ESAC)

The Austin ISD Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee typically meets the fourth Wednesday of every other month.
All ESAC meetings are open to the public, and visitors are welcome.
Public comments are heard at the beginning of each regular meeting.
