This week the Austin Community College Board of Trustees approved a pilot program offering free tuition to 2024 high school graduates.

The details: The College Affordability Plan proposal was presented by ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart. 

• The five-year program will begin with the class of 2024.
• There are no GPA requirements or income restrictions. 
• The aim is to expand the program to be accessible to all.

By the numbers: According to The College Higher Education Coordinating Board, 57% of high school graduates in 2023 in Central Texas didn’t enroll in postsecondary education after graduating.

Esta semana la mesa directiva de Austin Community College aprobó un programa piloto que ofrece matrícula gratuita a los graduados de preparatoria del 2024.

Antecedentes: La propuesta del Plan de Asequibilidad Universitaria fue presentada por el canciller del ACC, el Dr. Russell Lowery-hart.
