Good evening, Austin ISD Community,

As you may have heard, earlier this evening there was a shooting at Uvalde Memorial Park. I know that this may cause stress, raise anxiety, or mean that some of our students to act out. We've asked our principals and counselors to be aware, and to be vigilant and proactive in monitoring students or colleagues who may need extra support or to visit with a counselor. 

Our highest priority is always the safety and security of our students and staff. Austin ISD Police Chief Wayne Sneed and our police department are also on alert and ready to support and protect our schools. If you or your students have any immediate concerns, please contact AISD Police at 512-414-1703.

Como habrán escuchado, esta noche hubo un tiroteo en el Parque Memorial de Uvalde. Sé que esto puede causar tensión, aumentar la ansiedad, o dar lugar a que algunos de nuestros estudiantes lleven a cabo un comportamiento indebido. Hemos pedido a nuestros directores y consejeros que estén atentos, y que estén alertas y sean proactivos en el monitoreo de estudiantes o colegas que puedan necesitar apoyo adicional o que acudan con un consejero.

Nuestra mayor prioridad es siempre la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y personal. El jefe del Policía de Austin ISD Wayne Sneed y nuestro departamento de policía también están en alerta y listos para apoyar y proteger nuestras escuelas. Si usted o sus hijos tienen alguna preocupación inmediata, por favor, póngase en contacto con la policía del AISD al 512-414-1703.
