Immediately after the Board of Trustees went into executive session at the May 6 Information Session, the district staffer monitoring the meeting broadcast over Facebook Live pressed a button to conclude the stream.

• What normally happens then: The stream of the meeting is uploaded automatically to Austin ISD’s Facebook page.
• What actually happened: Not only did the video not upload, but several older videos of meetings dating back into 2021 disappeared from our page. 

Here’s what we’re hearing:

It's not that a video wasn't uploaded, videos have been deleted. Somebody took time to remove them. 

The truth: Facebook has confirmed it's an issue on their end. 

• We first assumed the problem was on our end because we had just upgraded our tech to better support streaming the meetings, but after looking through everything we did not find the problem, or the records of the meetings.
• On Friday, May 13, our customer representative from Facebook wrote with “some good news: we can still access the two video links you provided internally. This means that those videos are not deleted- just not viewable.” 

In the meantime: While Facebook fixes things on their end, we have created new versions of the videos and uploaded them to our website. 

• Part of the reason it takes so long is editing. We have to grab the end of the meeting when they come out of the executive session to adjourn to the first public part of the meeting before we can upload it.
• Also, uploading isn’t instantaneous. It can take several hours.  

The good news: We finally uploaded the video of the May 6 Information Session, and you can access it on Vimeo and on our website. 

• The bad news is that we don’t know why this happened and have to trust Facebook to fix it.
• And we are still working on the video for the May 10 Special Information Session. That’ll be up soon.

Por qué desaparecieron los videos de las juntas  

Inmediatamente después de que la mesa directiva pasó a la sesión ejecutiva de la sesión informativa del 6 de mayo, el personal del distrito que monitorea la transmisión de la junta en Facebook Live presionó un botón para concluir la transmisión.

•  Primero asumimos que el problema fue ocasionado por nosotros porque acabamos de actualizar nuestra tecnología para mejorar el soporte para la transmisión de las juntas, pero después de revisar todo, no encontramos el problema o las grabaciones de las juntas. 
• El viernes, 13 de mayo, nuestro representante de servicio al cliente de Facebook escribió: “buenas noticias: todavía podemos tener acceso a los dos enlaces de videos que nos proporcionaron internamente. Esto significa que esos videos no se borraron, solo que no se pueden ver". 

Mientras tanto: Al mismo tiempo que Facebook arregla las cosas por su parte, hemos creado nuevas versiones de los videos y los cargamos en nuestro sitio web. 

• Parte de la razón por la cual toma mucho tiempo es la edición. Tenemos que captar el final de la junta cuando salen de la sesión ejecutiva para concluir con la primera parte pública de la junta antes de que podamos cargarla.
