Last week, we celebrated the outstanding work of our teachers, staff, and volunteers as we close out a remarkable year.
Several outstanding educators took home honors at the annual Salute awards May 12:
- Elementary Teacher of the Year: Kari Johnston, Perez Elementary School
- Secondary Teacher of the Year: Iraida Amador-Mercado, Lively Middle School
- Classified Staff of the Year: Stephanie Leslie, Navarro Early College High School
- Librarian of the Year: Jill Brady, Eastside Early College High School and International High School
- Counselor of the Year: Karen Terry, Bertha Sadler Means Young Women’s Leadership Academy
- Assistant Principal of the Year: Patrick Salinas, Norman-Sims Elementary School
- Principal of the Year: Katie Peña, Highland Park Elementary School
- PTAs of the Year: Hart Elementary School and Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders
We also honored our Teachers of Promise, recognizing one exceptional first-year teacher at each campus, and our Campus Teachers of the Year.

Student performances from Bedichek Middle School, Austin High School, and Crockett, LBJ, and Northeast early college high schools kicked off the show and set the tone for the evening.

Los Premios Salute 2022 rinden honor a la excelencia en el AISD
Este semana pasada, tuvimos la oportunidad de celebrar el excepcional trabajo de nuestros maestros, personal y voluntarios al cerrar un año extraordinario.
Varios educadores excepcionales se llevaron a casa honores en los premios anuales Salute en el 12 de mayo:

También les rendimos honor a nuestros Maestros Prometedores, reconociendo un maestro excepcional en su primer año de cada escuela, y a nuestros Maestros del Año de cada escuela.
