How will learning this Fall look different than it did in the Spring at High Schools? 

• Instructional expectations will focus on essential standards and increased two-way communication of students' progress. 
• All subjects, including art, music and physical education will be taught remotely. 
• There will be emphasized relationship building between students and teachers.
• Learning reflection guides will be provided to help students become more aware of their own progress toward the essential learning standards and their social emotional skills.
• There will be a combination of synchronous (live) and asynchronous (not live) lessons everyday.
• Grades will be taken and full report cards will be generated. 

What platform will AISD use to communicate with me regarding what my child should be learning and doing? 

• BLEND will be the main platform for Austin ISD and can be accessed through technology. 
• For students without access to devices or wifi at the beginning of the school year, the academics team is working to coordinate paper-based resources that will be available to students through their campuses.
• Additionally we will continue to distribute devices to families and additional wifi school buses are being added across the Austin area.

How many assignments will I have? 

• We’re looking to balance the need for academic rigor and understanding to individual student cases and workloads.
• We also see that student experiences need to be consistent across the district.
• That’s why there will be a minimum of two assignments per class per week.

What are the start and end times?

School starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m., for all high school campuses with the exception of LBJ and LASA, which will begin their school day at 8:15 a.m. and end at 3:45 p.m. due to transportation needs.

Will students take all of their classes? 

Students will receive instruction in all courses on their schedules whether remote or face-to-face.

When will I get my class schedule?

High Schools will send schedules no later than August 14.

When will my teacher be available to help me with my work? 

Teachers will be available during weekly office hours. Teachers will have dedicated and specific times available to support students with their classwork. This information will be communicated to families by their school Principals.
