For the second consecutive year, girls from 10 Austin ISD schools cleaned the Clint Small Middle School campus as a service project that marked the final event of the year for the Girls Outside Program.
Throughout the day, approximately 200 girls collected bags of trash and recycling along the nature trail, campus and fields of Small.
AISD Outdoor Learning Specialist Anne Muller said the girls had a great time connecting with each other as they hiked and cleaned.
This event not only benefitted Small, but gave the girls a chance to learn about watersheds and how trash can affect a watershed.
The Girls Outside Program is designed to connect girls with a mentor as well as nature.
