Reagan Early College High School honored more than 250 seniors at their graduation ceremony this afternoon at the Frank Erwin Center.
Austin ISD Superintendent Paul Cruz highlighted the accomplishments of Reagan students this year:
- Nineteen students earned associate degrees and 58 seniors earned more than 1,800 college credit hours as part of the campus’ Early College High School program.
- Guadalupe Castillo Tristan, Jessica Delacruz Santiago, T'Andrea Jones-Jenkins and Francisco Turrubiartes are graduating as certified nurse aides.
- Alassani Djaneye was named a member of the Academic All-State Track Team.
Salutatorian Naomi Lands thanked family, friends, and Reagan teachers and administrators for supporting the class of 2018.
“You can look at us today as the success stories that you’ve made,” she said. “We thank you for standing by us during our time at Reagan. Today is the start of a new beginning in our lives.”
Valedictorian Anna Alifanova reflected positively on her time as a new student at Reagan after she moved to the United States and learned English.
"It is impressive how different personalities and passions can make people stand out and contribute to the world," she said. "As we approach life, think of how much potential you have because this is a day of promise — a promise of new opportunities. I’m proud to graduate from Reagan."
